How to embed a YouTube video in PowerPoint 365

1. Find the video you want to embed on YouTube, and copy the entire URL from your PC or Mac computer’s web browser address bar.

2. In PowerPoint, click the „Insert“ tab in the ribbon at the top of the screen.

3. Click „Video,“ and in the drop-down, choose „Online video…“

4. In the Online Video dialog box, paste the URL of the YouTube video.

You can apply a variety of effects to the video preview using the options in the Video Format tab in the ribbon. These options affect the video preview that appears in your slide before the video plays – they do not affect the video when it plays.

How to embed a YouTube video in PowerPoint 2016

If you have Office 2016, the Online Video dialog box looks a little different, and you need to embed the video differently.

1. Find the video you want to embed on YouTube and copy the embed code that begins with „<iframe.“ To find that, click „Share,“ below the video’s title, and then click „Embed.“ Copy the full Embed Video link.

Add movies or movie clips to a PowerPoint slide in Office 2011 for Mac if you need visual aids in the form of videos. PowerPoint 2011 for Mac offers a few ways to do this:

  • From the Media Browser: Use the Movies tab and drag from the browser into PowerPoint.

  • From the menu bar: Select one of the following commands:

    • Insert→Movie→Movie from File:When you select this option, the Choose a Movie dialog appears. Navigate to a movie file or use Spotlight to search for a file.

    • Insert→Movie→Media Browser:Displays the Media Browser on the Movies tab.

In addition to adding a movie to a slide using the Insert Movie dialog or Media Browser, you can add a movie by dragging it onto a slide from Finder.

While the Movie icon is selected, take a peek at the Ribbon. There you find a feast of new offerings. Click the Format Movie tab of the Ribbon.

The Movie Options group of the Ribbon’s Format Movie tab lets you set how your movie will behave as the presentation is running:

  • Start: Choose one of these two options from this pop-up menu, and your movie will play automatically or on click (the latter being the default setting.)

    • Play Full Screen:Use this option so that when your movie plays during your presentation, the movie fills the entire screen.

    • Hide While Not Playing: Use this option to prevent the movie placeholder from being visible when your presentation plays.

    • Dinput vs xinput. Loop Until Stopped: Your movie will loop continuously until you stop it, such as by moving to the next slide.

    • Rewind After Playing: When selected, this option makes the movie file starts at the beginning each time it is clicked when the presentation is running.

    For both movies and audio clips, you can turn off the media control bar (the semi-transparent playing controls that appear over any media while in slide show mode) by clicking the Slide Show tab of the Ribbon, and de-selecting the option called Show Media Controls.

  • Poster Frame: The poster frame is the picture that you see in the movie placeholder. When you click the Poster Frame button in the Movie Options group on the Ribbon’s Format Movie tab, you can choose the current frame or a picture from file.
